One Step At A Time
Kyle, Nicky, and I just completed a full afternoon’s worth of interviews for EXECUTE.
The applicants blew us away with their stories, ideas, and passion for the work they do.
Our last interviewee actually joined us from his office at work. My heart reached out to him because I saw him where I was at less than two years ago.
At times I was on the verge of tears. Not from sadness, but from joy, knowing that in a year from now his life will be remarkably different.
Right as our interview ended, someone walked in the door. I don’t know who, maybe it was his boss.
He gave this slight panicked look for a second and then smiled at us as he disconnected from GoToMeeting. It was beautiful and poetic and magical all at the same time.
Kyle and Nicky and I broke out into jubilant laughter as soon as he disconnected.
“That was fucking awesome! Did you see that? Was that his boss? Hahahaha!”
Yeah, I’m not worried about him at all. He’s on the right path. And applying to the right programs, reading the right books, and putting himself in front of the people that will help turn his dreams into reality.
And I know he’s reading this right now and I want to say this to him while the world watches…
Dude, I got your back.
I think I got way more from these interviews than our interviewees did today.
As we talked to them all I realized, “Whoa, we really DO know a lot about business!” We laser coached, shared our connections, and gave them the confidence they need today to do what they need to do tomorrow.
And in those interviews my confidence as an entrepreneur grew a little more as well. Like it’s been every day since I started my blog two and a half years ago.
Bit by bit. Inch by inch.
One step at a time.
